WiP: DAK Panzers - Panzer IV F1

I am slowly working my way through several German tank units for Battlegroup Tobruk. First up, these Panzer IV F1s, later some six Panzer IIIs (3x Ausf. G, 3x Ausf. J), then other things I'm sure.

Models by PSC: they are looking a little dated and need a fair bit of work: still better than metal and resin though! Filled the hole in gun mantlet, scratch-built deflector under 7.5cm...they're OK. Light-ish stowage added: I also attempted a hand-painted Reich flag for air recognition: it's decent, not perfect. PSC decal sheet next time methinks.

Lacking the correct colours I used something that looked "desert-ish": MIG 902 Dunkelgelb Base, then MIG 011 Dunkelgelb aus '44 DG I, finally MIG 012 Dunkelgelb aus '44 DG III...so, not RAL8000 then. I think it will work OK, though it resembles the later RAL8020 colour more, so not quite right for 1941. Should have bought a DAK colour set but too late now: KBO, etc.

Chipping, mostly by brush to get a quite worn look exposing the Panzergrau.

I went for a quite "beaten-up" look based on some colour plates: seems to be working alright. Once the pin-wash and details are all done I can see if it really works. Markings for 4. Kompanie, Panzer Regiment 8, 15. Panzer Division.

Details painted

Missed the exhausts! Done now.

Pro Tip: buy decals for flag. Ask me how I know...

W-SS 8cm Mortar team

Waffen-SS 8cm mortar team from Warlord.

28mm Panzer Crew

A few 28mm Panzer Crew figures. Old Warlord games figures, possibly from way back when they were still BAM (Bolt Action Miniatures) I think?

The faces on these were not the best, particularly on the single figure, though the other details were pretty good.

DAK Marder III (7.62cm)

Some Deutsches Afrikakorps Marder IIIs with the Soviet 76.2mm gun.

Models by PSC: the crews are in "Panzer Wrap", so not really suitable for North Africa. Lacking anything better I painted them up in the DAK olive green anyway. The excellent PSC plastics are a joy to work with and far superior to BF resin & metal.

WiP: Fast-paint T-34s

Some old PSC T-34s, aiming for a fast job.

The ideas is to use 3-layers of colour in a quick ersatz modulation style, apply decals and do chipping, then apply an overall enamel wash, but thinned to a heavy-ish filter consistency. Now, it won't detail as well as a proper pin-wash, but it won't take as long either. Which is the point here as I just want them for gaming, nothing fancy, and don't want a serious time investment.

(1) Very dark green, (2) MiG 932 4BO Base, (3) 1:1 mix of MiG 933 and 934 4BO colours

So far so good, but the wash will make or break them. They should be good enough for gaming purposes in any case.

BF plastic Chieftains from the Team Yankee range.

Out of the box build, nothing fancy. Gun sleeves came out a bit too light, need toning down. DPM on the crewman needs a bit of work too. Lovely models except for the smoke dischargers...seriously BF?

On ebay if interested.

SS-Aufklärung vehicles

SS-Aufklärung, ostensibly painted for a "KG Knittel" force for FOW, plus a few extras (for other units, but done the same way).
